What Does Ownership with a Home Based Business Look Like?

I am going to hit on something pretty hard here and some people may not like what I am about to say. It could make them uncomfortable and I could get a little bit of hate mail because of it. But you know what. I DON’T CARE! Why? Well I am committed to giving you the truth more than I am committed to making you feel good. That is what being a leader is about, I care too much about you and your future successes. There are way too many people out there who just want to make you feel good and will stroke your ego and take your money. I am not like that. Sure I will ALWAYS encourage you to do your best however I am not about telling you a heap of hype filled lies just so you will buy something from me or subscribe to my emails.

Today’s topic on ownership is a hot one at the moment because it has been breed into our culture where people sit back and allow the government or other people to take care of them. This culture is allowing people to look for excuses not solutions. Now that is fine if you want to live your life that way, however you will never achieve much and what you do achieve you will not have much joy with it. The problem I see with this attitude and culture that is it is also being developed in the home-based business industry. People bring this ridiculous thought with them that they just have to hand over a little bit of money and it will all happen from there. This couldn’t be further from the truth.

Because it is soooooo inexpensive to get started in a home based business people treat the opportunity they have to make an incredible fortune with contempt. When things get hard they quit. Don’t allow this to be you.

One of the amazing benefits of being able to get started in a home based business is that it does not cost you a lot of money. Most of the time you can get started for less than a thousand dollars. Sometimes it is a little more but not all the time. This gives you the ability to go out there, get the training and start to build your business.

One of the problems is that you can get started for less than a thousand dollars….I know some of you are a little confused right now as I just said it was a benefit and it is, however the amount of money you pay and the amount of things you have on the line seems to have a direct correlation to the work you put in. You see if you invested over $100,000 in your business and mortgaged your house for the finance, you are going to give that business everything you have to make sure it succeeds so you don’t lose everything…however if you have only invested less than a thousand dollars the mind set a lot of the times, is you can take it a little easier because you know that if you lose that thousand dollars, in the big scheme of things, it is not really going to impact your life. If you look back in 12 months time you could pretty much say you would have spent the money anyway…

So what does this have with ownership? EVERYTHING

One of the first obstacles a person is going to have face is the obstacle of procrastination. This can be a huge obstacle for most people, and unless they have a major reason to get past it, it will be the end of them and their business venture. You see, that person never really took ownership of their business, if they had of taken ownership they would have done whatever it took to learn the skills and put into action those learnt skills to get the results they NEEDED…

So let’s look at what would have happened though if that person had of had their house and future on the line. Do you think that would have been a motivator to make them go to work and get results? You bet it would. A great friend of mine has a great saying:

“There is nothing like the winds of disaster blowing in, to make you get off your backside and do something!”

I couldn’t agree more.

Unfortunately it takes most people to get to a place where it is their “Discomfort” that propels them to do something.

What is ownership in Home Based Business?

Ownership in business is you taking responsibility for the successes and failures of YOUR business. It is not blaming other people or waiting for other people to give you the answers. It is the people that go searching for the answers and who are prepared to dig deep until they find them that will be the ones that get the results.

I have seen it too many times when people have plenty of potential, however no real results. They blame everything else except look at themselves. Even though other people are using the exact same training and reaping the rewards they still blame others when the only variable is them.

Ownership Looks Like This:

  • YOU take responsibility.
  • YOU being active.
  • Accepting the successes and the failures (yes that is right, when something goes right, accept it, you did a good thing J)
  • Not waiting for someone else to come up with the answers.
  • Playing to win.
  • Staying in a mindset of victory not defeat.
  • Not being a victim.
  • Thinking possibility rather than probability.
  • Carry on even when you feel like you can’t. Don’t give up at the first sign of rejection or failure. It is when you are uncomfortable that you know you are learning something and growing. Analyze where you made a mistake or got rejected and change what you did wrong for a better result next time.
